A forensic stabbing machine, a trio of solar flares, and other amazing images of the week

This week, NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope took a close-up
picture of Jupiter as it arrived
at the nearest point to Earth, 415 million miles away. The
highlight of the image
is definitely the Great Red Spot, a swirling storm in Jupiter’s
atmosphere that’s larger than Earth. On the lower right side,
you can also see the Great Red Spot’s sidekick, “Red Spot Jr.”
