Alessandra Ambrosio Announces Her Retirement From Victoria’s Secret
Alessandra Ambrosio is hanging up her angel wings.
After almost two decades with Victoria’s Secret, the Brazilian beauty has announced this year will her last. The 36-year-old reportedly broke the news to Entertainment Tonight, sharing she plans to retire the runway to concentrate on being a mommy for her two kids Anja, 9, and Noah, 5. Ambrosio, who recently branched out into acting with Daddy’s Home 2, will also be staying busy with her acting career as well as her own swimwear line Ale by Alessandra.
On Tuesday, the angel officially announced her retirement to her 8.8 million followers on Instagram. “Words cannot describe how grateful I am to have been working for this amazing brand that inspires me and women all over the world. In my wildest dreams I would have never imagined doing 17 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Shows. Thank you Ed, and all my Victoria’s Secret family for making these memories unforgettable. Last night was so emotional to say goodbye to my #angel sisters but we put on the biggest and best show ever. I could not have done this without all the love and support from my fans. It gives me great pride to be part the Victoria’s Secret movement! I will always be cheering for you! Love you forever,” she wrote, along with a heart emoji.
The retirement comes as a shock to many as the angel has been with the lingerie company since she was 19. Throughout her Victoria Secret career, the model has had the honor of being selected to rock the jewel-encrusted ‘fantasy bra’ twice and honor few angels have.
Don’t forget to catch Alessandra on her last Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show airing Nov. 28 at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.
