In the age of orbiting satellites, interplanetary spacecraft and a fully manned space station, the fact that the Earth is round (an oblate spheroid) is as indisputable as the nose on your face.
Remarkably however, there are still those who remain adamant that the Earth is actually flat.
Earlier this month, Flat-Earthers from… around the globe…. gathered in Raleigh, North Carolina for the first ever Flat Earth International Conference (FEIC).
Speakers at the event included Darryle Marble, who once famously took a spirit level on a plane to ‘prove’ that the Earth is flat, and Mark Sargent, who maintains that we are all living inside a large domed structure similar to that seen in the movie The Truman Show.
Those attending the conference had the opportunity to listen in on talks that included “NASA and Other Space Lies”, “Flat Earth with the Scientific Method” and “Testing the Globe.”
Exactly how many Flat-Earthers genuinely believe that the Earth is flat however remains unclear.
