James “Jay” Morris, PhD, JD, MA

Jay is the Vice President of Education at Yale New Haven Health System and the Executive Director of the Institute for Excellence (IFE) where he is responsible for leadership development, e-learning, executive coaching, succession planning, organization development and a simulation center.

Jay worked at Allstate Insurance Company as a field underwriting manager and with organizational development (OD) in the corporate headquarters. He was OD manager at Ernst & Young, LLP and a senior OD consultant at Computer Sciences Corporation. He spent seven years as a Global OD director at Merck & Company. He was Vice President at Trinity Health, where he was responsible for OD, talent management, diversity and leadership development.

Jay received a BA in sociology from North Carolina Central University, a JD from Woodrow Wilson College of Law and both his MA in Organization Development and PhD in Corporate Instructional Design from Loyola University in Chicago. He was an Affiliate Professor in the Organizational Dynamics Graduate Program at the University of Pennsylvania and an adjunct professor at National-Louis University in Chicago.

Jay is on the Board of Trustees for Scholarship America, the Board of Trustees for Change/Create/Transform Foundation, the Board of Trustees for the Community Healing Network, and the Board of Trustees at the Robert S. Hartman Institute and is the Chairman of the Trustee Board at Cornerstone Christian Center.
