Meghan Markle’s bodyguard to quit after less than a year

Meghan Markle’s trusted female bodyguard is set to quit her job.

She has been spotted beside Meghan and Prince Harry’s sides regularly but now The Sunday Times newspaper is reporting that she is going to stop protecting them.

The news will come as a body blow to the former American actress who has already lost some key staff members.

Her personal assistant, Melissa Touabti, left Kensington Palace last year after just six months.

While her private secretary, Samantha Cohen, is also expected to leave later this year after 17 years of working for the British Royals.

It is understood that her Royal Protection Officer was worried that Meghan wanted to be ‘one of the people.’

A source revealed: “Unlike someone who has grown up in the royal family and has been used to having close protection from an early age, it can be quite constraining.

“Even though she was a famous actress, she could still do what she wanted in the way of getting around freely. But in her current role she can’t go anywhere without her protection team and that’s a massive constraining force on an individual like her.”

Meghan’s protection officer, who is understood to be leaving the Metropolitan police, was described by colleagues as “brilliant” and highly regarded in the force.

Their female bodyguard had been directly protecting the high profile couple for the past six months.

Scotland Yard are actively looking for a replacement.
