Corona stabbing leaves one dead, multiple victims hospitalized

A stabbing in Corona left one person dead and others hospitalized on Monday, April 15.

Officers on their way to a fight reported at about 4:54 p.m. on the 1300 block of Turquoise Drive learned it was a stabbing as they were en route to respond, said Corona Police Sgt. Chad Fountain.

He said arriving police found one male victim dead and at least two other people who had been injured. At least two ambulances were summoned to transport those injured to a nearby hospital.

The ages and precise number of people injured were not immediately released.

One male suspect was detained by officers at the scene of the stabbing. Fountain was unable to immediately confirm if detectives believe that person might have committed the attack, but said detectives were not searching for any other suspects. The suspect’s name was not immediately released.

“We’re not looking for anybody, and there is no threat to public safety at this time,” he said.

The investigation into the incident was ongoing, and investigators were expected to remain in the area until late into the evening. A section of Turquoise Drive between Zircon and Topaz streets was closed off as of 8 p.m. Monday.
