Man, woman in Lamborghini killed in collision with an SUV and a tree in Encino

ENCINO — A man and woman died when the Lamborghini they were riding in crashed into an SUV, then struck a tree and caught fire near the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area in Encino on Wednesday night.

The accident occurred at Burbank Boulevard and Hayvenhurst Avenue around 7:30 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The vehicle was traveling eastbound on Burbank Boulevard at speeds over 100 mph when it struck an SUV, then slammed into a tree and caught fire, police said. The driver and passenger died at the scene.

The victims were 25 and 19, CBS2 reported.

The names of the victims were not immediately disclosed. The driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries.
