Woman attempts to kidnap a child in Los Angeles for second time in as many days

LOS ANGELES — A woman attempted to kidnap a 4-year-old boy in South Los Angeles on Wednesday, the second such attempt by the suspect in as many days, police said.

The suspect approached the boy, who was walking alongside a family member, about 11:15 a.m. on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near San Pedro Street and attempted to walk away with him before being stopped by a witness, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The woman then fled on foot.

Around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, the same woman is suspected of carrying a 4-year-old boy out of the McDonald’s at 1310 E. Olympic Blvd. in downtown Los Angeles, according to the LAPD.

“The suspect attempted to enter a parked vehicle with the victim but was stopped by a witness,” police said.

As in the first case, the woman fled the area on foot, the LAPD reported.

The first kidnap attempt was recorded on the fast food restaurant’s surveillance system and police released the video in the hope that someone will recognize the woman and help detectives locate her.

The suspect is described as Hispanic or black, 25-30 years old, about 5 feet 4 inches tall and around 115 pounds. She has black hair and a possible scar or birthmark on her forehead and unknown tattoos, one above her left breast and another on her upper back and left shoulder.
