Billie Elish seeking ‘flood therapy’ to overcome fear of water

Billie Eilish is resorting to extreme measures to cure her fear of water.

The 17-year-old confessed the extent of her phobia in an interview with Britain’s Metro newspaper, and admitted she’s “freaked out” by the ocean.

“Water freaks me out,” the Bury A Friend star shared. “I love art and am happy to put tarantulas in my mouth and tubes in my eyes, but water is too much.”

While Billie revealed she “flipped” when she put her head in a bag of water for the music video for her hit Bad Guy, she committed to trying flood therapy – a behavioural treatment that works by exposing the patient directly to their worst fears – when filming her next clip.

“The next cycle of visuals I am trying to do is underwater,” she affirmed. “I never chicken out… and love the feeling of being flipped out.”

The musician has spoken openly about a number of issues that affect her personally in the past, and has been particularly candid in sharing her struggles with mental health.

Billie previously detailed her battle with depression and night terrors during an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music’s Beats 1 radio, and confessed she’s had to face up to her mental health issues all her life.

“Depression has controlled sort of like everything in my life,” she told the host. “For my whole life, I’ve kind of always been a melancholy person.”
